Korean Language Contest in Algiers Highlights Algerian Cultural Heritage

The Moufdi Zakaria Palace of Culture served as the venue for the 2026 Korean Language Contest, part of the Korea Week program hosted by the South Korean embassy in Algeria. Eight Algerian participants used the Korean language to showcase their national heritage, highlighting traditional attire like the Haïk and Karakou, alongside social customs. This year, the event featured a new debate segment. Ambassador Min Kyung-tae commended the students' perseverance and drew parallels between the two nations' historical attachment to their native languages, referencing the significance of the Hangeul alphabet. The competition concluded with Mouna Yekhlef taking first place, followed by Feryal Boukena and Asma Zaoui. The cultural week will continue its program, including a Korean film festival scheduled for November 7th.
