As the November 5th campaign start date approaches, Algerian political parties are preparing to unveil their preliminary participation figures for the upcoming local elections. Parties are currently fine-tuning their platforms while awaiting the final approval of candidate lists from the National Independent Authority for Elections (ANIE), following the replacement of excluded candidates. Initial data suggests the National Liberation Front (FLN) submitted around 1,300 lists, the National Democratic Rally (RND) nearly 900, El Bina Movement 600, and the Movement of Society for Peace (MSP) over 400. Although the electoral authority noted a 30,000 increase in candidates compared to the 2021 elections, political parties acknowledge a decrease in their overall participation reach, pending final official validation that will dictate the competitive scope of each party.
