The town of Mechtras, in the wilaya of Tizi Ouzou, hosted the 12th edition of the Persimmon (Kaki) Festival from October 22 to 24, 2026. Organized by the Tala N’Ugellidh cultural association at the Messaoudi-Essaïd Vocational Training Center, the event brought together producers, artisans, and visitors from across the country. Persimmons, sold at approximately 400 DA per kilogram, shared the stage with traditional products including honey, cheese, and couscous. The three-day festival featured cultural performances and agricultural discussions aimed at promoting local expertise. The excursion also included a visit to the village of Ihesnawen, recognized in 2024 as the cleanest village in the wilaya, highlighting the success of communal efforts in environmental preservation.
