Passing of Moudjahid Tahar Bouzghoub, the Pilot Who Fought in Four Wars
Mohand Tahar Bouzghoub, a veteran of the Algerian War of Independence and a high-ranking officer in the Algerian Air Force, has passed away at the age of 86 at the Ain Naadja military hospital. Born in 1937 in Bordj Bou Arreridj, he joined the revolutionary struggle in 1956, leaving his studies at Zitouna to serve the nation. He underwent advanced military aviation training in China and the Soviet Union, eventually becoming a foundational figure for the Algerian Air Force after independence, where he led several air bases. His military career is defined by his participation in four major wars: the Algerian War of Independence, the Sand War, and the 1967 and 1973 Arab-Israeli conflicts. In the 1980s, he transitioned to senior civilian roles, including serving as Minister of Light Industries and leading Air Algérie. He chronicled his life's journey in a memoir published in 2024 titled 'Paths Toward the Sky of Freedom'.
