Mecheria: Successful plastic surgeries performed on children to correct congenital defects
A specialized medical and surgical week took place in Mecheria, Nâama, from October 25 to 27, resulting in ten plastic surgery interventions on the faces, jaws, and lips of children. The initiative, led by the local health department in coordination with the Friends of the Patient association and the Association of Knowledge and International Exchanges, involved a team of plastic and pediatric surgeons, along with anesthesiologists. Beneficiaries included children over six months old from various provinces, such as Timimoun, Bechar, and Sidi Bel-Abbes, all of whom underwent prior health assessments. The program also featured a scientific day at the Mecheria hospital, where specialists from abroad discussed modern techniques in reconstructive surgery and burn treatment, fostering professional development and knowledge sharing among local medical staff.
