Sahrawis stage massive protests in refugee camps rejecting autonomy plan
Thousands of Sahrawis gathered at the El Ayoun refugee camp to demonstrate their categorical rejection of autonomy proposals and to uphold their right to self-determination. Displaying national flags and banners demanding full independence, the participants reaffirmed their allegiance to the Polisario Front as their sole legitimate representative. During the protest, speakers emphasized that the sacrifices made over fifty years cannot be compromised for solutions that undermine national rights. The event saw a diverse turnout, including women, youth, and children, as well as the presence of the South African ambassador. Hamdi Salek, political advisor to the Sahrawi president, stated that any political framework failing to ensure total independence and full sovereignty over their territory would be rejected, confirming the commitment of the Sahrawi people to continue their struggle.
