Study suggests meat consumption supports physical strength in older adults
Recent research published in the journal Frontiers in Nutrition suggests that adequate meat intake is linked to a lower risk of physical decline and reduced stamina in the elderly. The study analyzed data from 5,484 individuals aged 60 and above in Nanjing, China, tracking their dietary habits and physical condition. Findings indicated that 16.9% of participants experienced age-related frailty, a condition that becomes more common with advancing age. Those who consumed the recommended amounts of meat were found to be approximately 30% less likely to suffer from frailty compared to those who consumed less. To preserve physical strength during aging, experts advise maintaining a protein-rich diet, exercising regularly, and conducting periodic blood protein tests.
