Kaddour Naïmi challenges conventional views on Algerian theater history

An essay titled "Théâtre : Beauté, Vérité, Bonté" by Kaddour Naïmi, published by Dar El Qods in 2024, was recently presented at the University of Oran 1 Ahmed Ben Bella. In this 500-page work, the veteran playwright and filmmaker reflects on his extensive artistic journey. Organized into four thematic chapters, the book explores the challenges of artistic production, censorship, and the author's controversial history with notable figures of Algerian theater. Naïmi presents a rigorous critique of the established narrative, accusing certain circles of obscuring his contributions and claiming ownership of his work. The essay serves as both a personal testament and a call for students and scholars to question the prevailing history of national dramaturgy.
