Algeria mandates online filing for annual salary declarations

The Algerian General Directorate of Taxes has introduced a mandatory online filing system for salary declarations, known as G29. Effective January 1, 2026, taxpayers under the JIBAYATIC information system must submit their salary data exclusively through the digital platform. This transition, supported by the 2026 Finance Law and the Direct Taxes Code, marks the end of optional traditional filing methods. The initiative aims to enhance the digitalization of tax services, streamline administrative procedures, and provide the government with real-time financial information. A significant update includes the mandatory inclusion of the National Identification Number (NIN) for every employee to improve data exchange between public institutions. The authorities have warned that failure to comply with these new digital reporting requirements will result in penalties as outlined in the tax code.
