Ministry of Trade launches nationwide inspection campaign to enforce price disclosure

The Ministry of Internal Trade and National Market Regulation has initiated a broad inspection campaign targeting commercial establishments across the country to ensure strict compliance with price labeling requirements. This effort follows presidential directives aimed at protecting consumer purchasing power and maintaining national market stability. The ministry emphasized that non-compliance will lead to immediate legal action, including potential prosecution, administrative store closures, and the seizure of products lacking visible pricing, in accordance with Law 04-02 governing commercial practices. These measures are part of a year-round strategy to curb speculation and prevent unjustified price hikes, with local trade directorates coordinating with regional authorities to oversee the regulation of essential goods and profit margins.
