Algeria initiates its first major wind energy projects
Algeria is moving forward with the construction of two 100 MW wind farms in the Djelfa and Laghouat regions. Sonelgaz Renewable Energies has launched a national call for tenders focused on the feasibility studies for these sites, including grid connection infrastructure, inviting local firms with international experience to apply. This development is part of a national strategy aiming to install 15,000 megawatts of renewable energy capacity by 2035. By integrating wind power alongside solar energy, Algeria intends to modernize its energy matrix, improve grid stability, and optimize its natural gas reserves for export. This transition is essential for the country's long-term goal of supplying green electricity to the European market.
