Algeria: Ministry of Finance eases administrative requirements for public building repairs
The Ministry of Finance has introduced new administrative facilitations for public institutions and administrations, exempting them from the requirement to submit a certificate of registration in the general table of national properties to cover maintenance and renovation expenses for the premises they occupy in 2026. This measure was formalized in a joint letter from the General Directorate of Budget and the General Directorate of Accounting dated October 28, 2026, aiming to resolve operational difficulties previously faced by authorizing officers. The decision follows a favorable stance from the Director General of National Properties expressed on October 22, 2026. This directive seeks to standardize financial procedures across various services, ensuring that budgets allocated for building upkeep are executed efficiently, with instructions now distributed to all budget controllers and treasury officials.
