The Ministry of Agriculture, in coordination with the National Chamber of Agriculture, has introduced urgent measures to regulate the prices of essential food products and safeguard consumer purchasing power. These actions, stemming from government directives, aim to eliminate speculation and curb the influence of middlemen through rigorous supply chain oversight and legal action against illicit stockpiling. Stocks are being released to the market, with potato prices capped at 70-80 DA at the farm level and 80-90 DA at wholesale and retail. Furthermore, a 'green corridor' has been established to facilitate the importation of agricultural and livestock inputs. These goods are now exempt from digital registration requirements to ensure rapid supply and continued support for local farmers.
