Jordanian Air Force strikes targets in Southern Syria following Karak attack
The Jordanian military announced on Monday that its air force conducted raids on sites in southern Syria described as bases for terrorist organizations. The operation, dubbed "Jordanian Deterrence-Hamoud," was carried out in retaliation for Friday's armed attack on the Hamoud church in Karak, which resulted in nine deaths and 25 injuries. The military stated that the attackers were linked to these target groups, confirming that the strikes destroyed positions and caused casualties among their ranks. Conversely, the Syrian news agency SANA, citing the Deraa health director, reported that the Jordanian raids killed five civilians, including women and children. The Syrian government expressed concern over the civilian casualties, emphasizing that the military operation was carried out without any prior coordination with Damascus.
