Western Sahara: The Sahrawi people hold the exclusive right to determine their future
The international community is currently debating a controversial US-led "zero draft" resolution on Western Sahara, which faces harsh criticism for violating international law. By attempting to legitimize the status quo, this initiative disregards the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination and threatens regional security. The Frente POLISARIO, as the sole legitimate representative of the Sahrawi people, maintains that no foreign power, including the US or the Security Council, has the authority to negotiate their sovereignty. Since the start of their revolution in 1973, the Sahrawis have established the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), an internationally recognized entity within the African Union. The movement asserts that peace can only be achieved through a fair and democratic referendum, warning that colonial impositions will only lead to further instability.
