Former Algerian international Walid Mesloub, 41, has secured a promotion at RC Lens. After serving five years as assistant coach for the club's reserve team, he has now been appointed as the head of the youth development center following a series of coaching changes, including the departure of first-team coach Dino Toppmoller and the appointment of Vincent Carler. Meanwhile, his 16-year-old son, Mezian Soares Mesloub, continues to shine with the first team. A youth international for Portugal who is also being scouted by Algeria, Mezian moved straight from the U17s to the first team without ever being coached by his father.
