Major infrastructure projects: Road network upgrades across 8 Algerian provinces
The Ministry of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure is advancing its 2026 program to develop and maintain road networks across eight provinces. These initiatives, coordinated with local governors, focus on improving connectivity, road safety, and traffic fluidity. Key projects include the upgrading, doubling, and modernization of national roads in Souk Ahras, Skikda, Batna, El M'Ghair, Guelma, Béjaïa, Oran, and Bouira. In Souk Ahras and Skikda, significant progress has been made on National Roads 16 and 85, respectively. Meanwhile, road reinforcement and doubling are underway in Batna, El M'Ghair, and Guelma. In Béjaïa, work continues on the rehabilitation of the Kherrata tunnels. Oran's project aims to improve links to the East-West highway, while Bouira is updating local road infrastructure. Additionally, Ghardaïa has successfully completed maintenance work on its airport runway, ensuring the facility remains operational and secure.
