Constantine: East-West Highway rehabilitation project begins in November

The wilaya of Constantine is set to launch major rehabilitation works on the East-West Highway, specifically the 15.33 km section between Zouaghi Slimane and Ain Smara, starting November 1st. The project aims to address long-standing structural damage and soil instability that have disrupted traffic. With a total budget exceeding 600 billion centimes, the operation is divided into two phases: the first focuses on reinforcing the road structure and engineering works over 14 months, while the second addresses geologically unstable points over 11 months. According to the Algerian Highways Agency, the intervention follows technical studies identifying heavy traffic and the age of the road, built in 2004, as key factors in its deterioration, necessitating this comprehensive renovation to improve road safety.
