Algeria Hosts Trilateral Meeting Pushing for Libyan-Led Political Settlement
The foreign ministers of Algeria, Egypt, and Tunisia met in Algiers to deliberate on the ongoing crisis in Libya. The participants emphasized their historical responsibility to support a Libyan-led political process under UN auspices, strictly rejecting any foreign interference in the country's domestic affairs. They urged for the holding of free presidential and parliamentary elections to end the transitional phases and restore unified national institutions. Furthermore, the ministers called for the immediate withdrawal of all foreign combatants and mercenaries from Libyan soil. They also expressed support for national reconciliation and the protection of Libyan financial assets, agreeing to continue their diplomatic coordination, with the next trilateral meeting scheduled to be held in Tunisia.
