L'Algérienne des Eaux and the Algerian Desalination Water Company (a Sonatrach subsidiary) have signed water purchase agreements to strengthen the coordination between production and distribution. The ceremony took place at the Ministry of Energy and Mines, involving five major desalination plants located in El Tarf, Béjaïa, Boumerdès, Tipaza, and Oran. These facilities, commissioned in early 2025 under President Abdelmadjid Tebboune's second complementary program, are now covered by these contractual agreements. The objective is to ensure the long-term operational efficiency of these public investments, maintain technical readiness, and ultimately bolster national water security.
