European nations seek to boost energy supplies from Algeria
Facing the upcoming winter, several European countries are looking toward Algeria to strengthen their hydrocarbon supplies. France has requested additional shipments of oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG), while the Czech Republic is aiming to double its Algerian gas imports to 400 million cubic meters per year through its contract with Sonatrach. Meanwhile, Germany has secured an agreement to increase its gas supplies starting January 1, 2027. While these requests highlight the strategic value of Algerian energy, Sonatrach maintains that any rise in exports must balance these new demands with existing contractual obligations and current production capacities.
