Significant disruptions to Internet services have been announced by the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications in Algeria. The instability is attributed to maintenance work on the submarine cable linking Algeria to Spain, a process beyond the authorities' control. The service interruptions are scheduled to take place from Monday, October 26 at 8:00 PM until Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at 4:00 AM. Both the Ministry and Algérie Télécom have stated they are fully mobilized to monitor the progress of these works, mitigate the impact on users, and ensure a gradual restoration of connectivity. These issues follow a period of intermittent connection problems in Algiers, particularly regarding fixed ADSL services. This marks the second time in less than a month that users have faced network difficulties, following an unscheduled maintenance operation on international IP transit equipment reported on October 11.
