New book chronicles the revolutionary path of Kaddour Zerg El Ain in the Ouarsenis mountains
A new book by historian Lakhdar Saidani documents the memoirs of Kaddour Zerg El Ain, known as "Hamid," a veteran of the Algerian War of Independence in the Ouarsenis region. Born in 1930, he joined the National Liberation Army (ALN) after a confrontation with a French forest guard led to his pursuit by colonial authorities, a transition described by historians as an "act of honor." Operating under the command of the iconic leader Djillali Bounaama, he served in various capacities, from managing weapon caches to acting as a commissar in the Ouled Ammar area. He also participated in significant battles, such as the combat at "Garaa Mout" near Lardjem. This documentation aims to preserve the historical memory of the fourth historical Wilaya and honor the struggles of those who fought for national sovereignty.
