The public prosecutor at the Algiers court has ordered an immediate and comprehensive investigation following viral videos showing individuals dumping large quantities of fresh vegetables and food items in rural areas. The investigation seeks to uncover those responsible for these actions, which are intended to create artificial scarcity and drive up prices through speculation. The prosecutor's office condemned these practices as a serious threat to national food security and the economic order, suggesting the involvement of organized criminal groups. Under the supervision of the national pole for combating organized crime, security forces have been instructed to identify all participants, instigators, and beneficiaries to ensure they face the full force of the law. Officials emphasized that protecting the national economy is a shared responsibility and urged citizens to report similar incidents to the competent authorities.
