Takeshi Okada resigns from Japan Football Association
Takeshi Okada has resigned from his role as vice president of the Japan Football Association. His departure follows the Asian Football Confederation's recent endorsement of Gianni Infantino for another term as FIFA president in the 2027 elections. Okada, 70, a former manager of the Japanese national team during the 1998 and 2010 World Cups, stated that he could not reconcile his personal commitment to sporting integrity with the organization's latest policy decisions. While he acknowledged the strategic reasons for the Japanese federation to align with the Asian body, he maintained that his resignation was a personal choice made after careful consideration.
