Skikda: National conference focuses on mountain agriculture and rural development
The University of 20 August 1955 in Skikda is hosting the inaugural national conference on mountain agriculture and the rural economy. Organized by the National Union of Agronomic Engineers (UNA) in partnership with the local assembly, the event seeks to modernize farming through innovation. UNA President Mounib Oubiri emphasized the importance of agronomic engineering and technology in achieving sustainable development in mountainous areas. Coinciding with National Tree Day, discussions highlighted the need for long-term reforestation programs based on scientific criteria and careful maintenance. A new strategic partnership was also established between the union and the university to foster entrepreneurship among students and align agricultural education with market demands. Throughout the two-day event, experts are exploring the integration of artificial intelligence and digital solutions to promote local investment and mitigate natural disasters.
