Algeria mobilizes resources to ensure success of the 2026-2027 planting season
The 2026-2027 planting season in Algeria has seen significant activity at the 78 specialized one-stop shops managed by the national grain agency. These centers are facilitating administrative procedures and providing essential supplies like seeds, fertilizers, and equipment. Algeria currently holds a seed stockpile of 3.5 million quintals, ensuring self-sufficiency. Farmers are supported through financial schemes like the 'Rfig' credit and 'supplier loans' for those affected by climate events. The government is also expanding storage capacity to over 9 million tonnes through new silo projects and upgrading seed processing with optical sorting technology, while 700 agricultural engineers oversee technical compliance and crop quality.
