Egyptian Parliament grants Sisi mandate to support Saudi Arabia
The Egyptian Parliament has approved, with a two-thirds majority, a mandate for President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to take necessary actions to support the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This decision follows a series of closed-door sessions held on October 18, 19, and 26, requested by the President. A parliamentary statement indicated that these meetings allowed members from various political backgrounds to discuss regional developments and their implications for national security. The mandate empowers the President to coordinate with Riyadh to defend its territory, sovereignty, and holy sites against any external aggression, in line with the decisions of the National Defense Council meeting held on October 18.
