Gymnastics: Kaylia Nemour secures double world championship victory
Nineteen-year-old Algerian gymnast Kaylia Nemour has further cemented her status among the world's elite by winning two gold medals over the weekend. On Saturday, she retained her world title on the uneven bars with a score of 15.333, finishing ahead of Germany's Helen Kevric and the USA's Skye Blakely. The following day, she added another gold to her collection by winning the balance beam final with 14.566 points, narrowly edging out China's Zhang Qingying and Brazil's Flavia Saraiva based on execution scores. The Olympic champion, who began her gymnastics journey at age four, expressed deep pride in representing Algeria and thanked the Algerian people for their continuous support. Following her historic gold at the Paris 2024 Olympics, Nemour continues to dominate the sport, now setting her sights on the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
