Libya expresses outrage over Donald Trump’s disparaging remarks

Libya has reacted with fury following derogatory comments made by Donald Trump during an election rally in Georgia. The former US president labeled nations including Libya, Yemen, Somalia, and Haiti as “s***hole” countries and “infested with terrorists.” These insults have unexpectedly united the country’s two rival administrations. Abdelhamid Al Dabaiba, head of the Tripoli-based Government of National Unity, rejected the use of Libyan national dignity for American electioneering, emphasizing the country’s sacrifices in combatting terrorism. Similarly, the Benghazi-based government, led by Osama Saad Hamad, issued a stern condemnation. They contrasted Libya’s ancient heritage with the relatively recent establishment of the United States, which was built through migration, and drew attention to Donald Trump’s association with the Epstein scandal.
