Spanish Intelligence Report Accuses Moroccan Authorities of Passivity During Ceuta Crisis
New revelations from Spanish intelligence and police reports have shed light on the migrant crisis that affected Ceuta in late July. According to documents submitted to the Spanish National Court, Moroccan authorities were alerted as early as July 29 about planned mass crossings organized via social media. The Spanish National Intelligence Center cited the "passivity" of Moroccan security forces during the influx on July 30 and 31. A specialized police unit report was even harsher, alleging "total permissiveness" and claiming that individuals in civilian clothing directed migrants to specific crossing points. While the Spanish government has not confirmed the hypothesis of state-sponsored organization, the judiciary continues to examine these reports to establish accountability, noting that a subsequent attempt on August 15 was successfully contained by Moroccan security forces.
