Algerian Customs regulations for online shopping: Taxes and exemptions explained
International parcels sent to Algeria undergo mandatory customs inspections to determine their value and intended use. Purchases for personal or family purposes are exempt from duties if the value does not exceed 50,000 DZD. Beyond this threshold, a flat 30% tax applies, though personal computers and smartphones are exempt from this fee regardless of price. Customs authorities monitor for commercial intent, such as repetitive orders or bulk quantities, which may trigger standard trade regulations. Furthermore, specific goods including currency, gold, and items threatening public safety are strictly prohibited from entry. Recipients must present their ID, the notice of arrival, and a purchase invoice to clear their parcels at the post office.
