Algeria participated in the 20th annual consultative meeting between the African Union Peace and Security Council and the UN Security Council held in New York. Represented by its ambassador to the AU, Mohamed Khaled, Algeria focused the discussions on the ongoing conflict in Sudan. Algeria called for intensified multilateral efforts to end hostilities, protect civilians, and foster a Sudanese-led political transition. Highlighting the AU Peace and Security Council's 2026 visit to Khartoum, Algeria emphasized the need for urgent international cooperation to support the country's reconstruction and recovery, reinforcing the strategic partnership between the two organizations to address security challenges.
