Sidi Bel-Abbès projects over two million quintals of grain production
Agricultural services in Sidi Bel-Abbès expect a harvest exceeding two million quintals of cereals this season. These projections are supported by the expansion of land dedicated to durum wheat, soft wheat, and barley, alongside technical improvements to boost yield per hectare. A total of 132,326 hectares has been set aside for sowing, with 7,000 hectares specifically designated for supplemental irrigation to counter water shortages. Logistics have been ramped up with the distribution of over 70,000 quintals of seeds and 165 pieces of farming equipment made available through local cooperatives. Local authorities are actively supporting farmers with proximity monitoring, awareness campaigns on drought-resistant seeds, and modern soil preparation techniques, all aimed at securing food supplies and meeting production goals.
