Sidi Bel Abbès: 21 people hospitalized following food poisoning from shawarma

A serious food poisoning incident occurred in Sidi Bel Abbès last Wednesday, leaving 21 people, including four children aged 4 to 11, in need of urgent care. The patients were admitted to the Abdelkader Hassani University Hospital suffering from high fever, abdominal pain, and vomiting after eating shawarma at a popular local restaurant. Several victims reported that the chicken tasted and smelled suspicious despite being heavily seasoned. Dr. Saïdani Hakim, an epidemiologist, confirmed that all patients received treatment and were discharged by Thursday. Following the incident, trade inspectors seized spoiled food items, and the establishment was ordered to close for 15 days, pending the results of an ongoing investigation.
