The Council of the Nation held an emergency session today, voting unanimously to authorize the deployment of Algerian military units to Niger. This move is part of an effort to strengthen security and strategic ties between Algiers and Niamey, focusing on securing shared borders, exchanging counter-terrorism expertise, and enhancing the field capabilities of the Nigerien military. The decision follows the recent visit of Niger's Minister of State for National Defense, Salifou Mody, to Algeria. During his visit, Mody met with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and signed a military cooperation protocol with the Chief of Staff of the People's National Army, General of the Army Saïd Chanegriha.
