The Algerian Ministry of Health has officially launched its national seasonal influenza vaccination campaign, aimed at curbing virus transmission and reducing pressure on healthcare facilities. Over two million doses of locally manufactured vaccine, resulting from a collaboration between Saidal and Abbott Laboratories, have been distributed nationwide. The campaign prioritizes vulnerable groups, such as the elderly, individuals with chronic conditions, and pregnant women. Dr. Fawzi Derrar, head of the Pasteur Institute, urged citizens to get vaccinated early to ensure adequate immunity before the epidemic peak. Additionally, Dr. Yazid Aoudia, head of the National Institute of Public Health, emphasized that the campaign is vital for preventing severe complications and lowering mortality rates associated with the flu.
