Political analyst Ahmed Mizab stated that the latest UN Secretary-General's report on Western Sahara reinforces the Sahrawi people's right to self-determination as an immutable benchmark. Mizab explained that the status of the territory remains unresolved, and any political settlement sidelining the will of the Sahrawi people lacks validity. The expert described the situation as an ongoing decolonization issue, noting that the renewal of the MINURSO mandate confirms the UN's enduring responsibility. He also highlighted the necessity to distinguish between the conflicting parties—Morocco and the Polisario Front—and Algeria's position as a neighboring state supporting international law. Mizab concluded that a fair and lasting resolution requires ensuring the free exercise of self-determination, a stance aligned with the UN's recent expressions of concern regarding human rights in the region.
