The Algerian football community bid farewell on Thursday to former international goalkeeper Rachid Soualhi, who passed away at the age of 78 following a battle with illness. His funeral took place at the central cemetery of Bouzourane in Batna, attended by numerous colleagues, friends, and prominent football figures from across the country. Soualhi left a lasting legacy during the 1960s and 1970s, starting his career with MC Batna, where he won the first Algerian youth cup, before moving to CA Batna. He also represented the national team across all age groups. After retiring in 1980 due to an injury, he served as a goalkeeper coach for local clubs. Hailing from a prominent sporting family, the late player was honored two years ago for his technical contributions and high moral standards throughout his career.
