Algeria's Thermal Tourism: Focusing on Modernization and Sector Growth
The national forum on thermal tourism is currently underway in the wilaya of Guelma, home to well-known sites such as Hammam Chellala and Hammam Debagh. The event aims to elevate Algeria's natural thermal resources into a robust, modern tourism industry. With 282 thermal springs spread across 40 provinces, alongside 36 modern stations and 28 traditional hammams, the sector provides thousands of jobs and a capacity of over 5,600 beds. During 2025, the industry attracted more than 3.1 million visitors. To capitalize on this success, government authorities are prioritizing the modernization of facilities, the removal of investment obstacles, and the encouragement of public-private partnerships. Currently, 14 new thermal projects are under construction to further expand the country's tourism infrastructure.
