New corruption allegations leveled against FIFA president

FIFA President Gianni Infantino is facing fresh corruption allegations. Reports indicate that the global football governing body covered 3.6 million euros in personal taxes for Infantino during his residency in the United States from 2024 to 2026, a financial benefit that was not recorded in official FIFA documentation. These arrangements were reportedly initiated by Bruno Giuffrida, head of FIFA's governance committee, who has a long-standing personal and professional connection with Infantino. Giuffrida receives an annual salary of 250,000 Swiss francs and enjoys special perks, including access to all matches of the recent World Cup. This controversy arises as the deadline for candidacy submissions for the March 2027 presidential election is set for November 18.
