Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, Kamel Rezig, announced that Algeria has achieved self-sufficiency in most agri-food products, attributing this progress to policies implemented since 2020. During the opening of an agri-food exhibition in Blida, featuring over 80 exhibitors and international diplomatic representatives, the Minister emphasized that the current priority is to enhance the quality of local goods to compete in African, European, and Arab markets. Rezig also unveiled the launch of local baker's yeast production by the 'SIM' complex in Aïn Oussara. This initiative is set to lower the national import bill, previously totaling 100 million dollars annually, while providing high-quality products at competitive prices.
