Documentary film on Moudjahida Louisa Ighilahriz screened in Algiers

The Cinémathèque of Algiers hosted the screening of the documentary film "Louisa Ighilahriz, My Last Memories," directed by Mohamed Ouali. Produced by the Ministry of Mujahideen and Right-holders, the 54-minute feature is based on the 2001 autobiography of the veteran militant. The film depicts her early involvement in the revolution at age 15, utilizing her family's bakery as a vital logistical hub for the FLN. Through emotional testimonials from historians, academics, and journalists, the film documents her 1957 arrest and the inhumane torture she endured in colonial detention centers. Louisa Ighilahriz describes her testimony as an act of resistance against the distorted colonial propaganda she famously challenged in court during the 2000s. The director emphasizes the film's role in confronting historical truth. Following the screening, the moudjahida was honored with a trophy in recognition of her contributions to the national cause. The film was previously previewed at the Annaba Mediterranean Film Festival.
