French TV cancels Éric Zemmour's appearance following racist remarks
BFMTV has canceled a planned interview with far-right leader Éric Zemmour. The move follows public backlash over remarks made by the politician on a different channel, LCI, where he referred to Maghrebis and Africans as a "horde of barbarians." Zemmour linked recent riots in France, occurring during protests over the cost of living, to the "great replacement" theory. These statements have led to legal action, with lawmaker Antoine Léaument reporting him to the public prosecutor for incitement to hatred. Furthermore, a petition calling for a media blackout on Zemmour gained traction, and the broadcasting regulator, Arcom, has reportedly received complaints regarding his rhetoric.
