The Tourism and Handicrafts Directorate of Oran has initiated a field program to assist the more than 12,000 officially registered artisans in the wilaya. The operation combines regulatory oversight with direct support, enabling officials to monitor working conditions, address artisans' concerns, and provide guidance on technical and administrative assistance. The program focuses on enhancing product quality, preserving authenticity, and ensuring health and safety standards across various crafts, including jewelry, ceramics, traditional clothing like the 'blouza', as well as soap making and various service-oriented trades. By maintaining a regular field presence, local authorities aim to better organize the sector and increase its economic and tourism impact, while continuing to support artisans through vocational training and promotional events like local exhibitions.
