Béchar: A National Awareness Campaign to Combat Drug Abuse Among Youth
The National Organization for Youth Safeguarding (ONSJ) recently organized a three-day awareness campaign in Béchar, branded as "Béchar, capital of drug prevention." The event brought together local officials, civil society representatives, and experts to address the rise of drug addiction. A highlight of the program was the presentation of the Bouchaoui center in Algiers, which provides specialized care for struggling youth. In response, Béchar's wali, Ahmed Benyoucef, directed local services to adopt this model for the region by 2027. The initiative extended to various areas, including Béni Ounif, and featured discussions on family roles in youth protection. The campaign concluded with an award for the wali and a commitment to expand these prevention efforts across Algeria.
