Algeria ranks among top global performers in education spending

The 2026 Global Innovation Index report, issued by the World Intellectual Property Organization, has ranked Algeria second globally for its education expenditure relative to GDP. By dedicating nearly 9 percent of its domestic product to the education sector, the country highlights the importance of investing in human capital. The findings further indicate that Algeria holds the second position worldwide for government funding per secondary student relative to GDP per capita, and the third position for the composite education index within integrated learning systems.
