A section of highway between the boundary of Algiers Province and Bou Ismaïl in Tipaza Province will be closed to traffic this Monday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for vehicles travelling toward Tipaza. The closure will allow work to continue on the road’s modernization, including the laying of an asphalt-concrete wearing course.
During the closure, traffic will be diverted from the Colonel Abbas interchange onto National Road 11, passing through Douaouda Maritime and then Fouka Maritime. Drivers can rejoin the highway at the Bou Ismaïl interchange, near the Solar Equipment Development Unit.
Tipaza’s provincial authorities apologized to road users for the disruption and urged drivers to take care, reduce speed and follow signs and instructions around the worksite. These measures are intended to protect the public and workers and to prevent accidents and traffic congestion.
A project to modernize and widen the dual carriageway from Bou Ismaïl to the municipality of Douaouda, at the boundary with Algiers Province, was launched last April, with funding of around 2 billion dinars. The route carries about 20,000 vehicles a day under normal conditions, rising to roughly 40,000 during peak periods, according to the Public Works Directorate.
