Algeria proposes lower wealth tax threshold in 2027 Finance Bill

The 2027 Finance Bill in Algeria outlines a plan to lower the wealth tax threshold to 80 million dinars, down from the previous 100 million dinars. This move is designed to broaden the tax base and increase contributions from high-net-worth individuals to the state budget. The proposal establishes a progressive tax scale with rates ranging from 0.2% to 1% based on the total value of assets. Furthermore, the bill sets clear penalties for late declarations, ranging from 10% to 25% of the tax amount, along with provisions for automatic taxation in cases of non-compliance. These changes aim to address the historically low revenue collection recorded between 2022 and 2025, which averaged only 20 to 25 million dinars annually.
