Protest in Brussels Demands Release of Sahrawi Prisoners and Self-Determination
Sahrawi activists and members of the diaspora in Belgium held a protest Saturday at Luxembourg Square in Brussels, in front of the European Parliament, to demand the release of Sahrawi prisoners and uphold the right to self-determination. Organized by the "Sahara ma tanba" association, the demonstration emphasized the Sahrawi people's demand for freedom and an independence referendum. The protest coincides with upcoming UN Security Council discussions regarding MINURSO. Participants highlighted the deteriorating human rights situation and expressed solidarity with "Gdeim Izik" prisoners who have engaged in hunger strikes. Speakers reiterated their support for the Polisario Front and urged the international community to take responsibility for protecting the prisoners and ensuring the decolonization of the territory.
